It seems Hashim Thaci thinks otherwise.
Prime Minister Hashim Thaci urged Spain, Romania, Greece, Cyprus and Slovakia to support Kosovo’s independence from Serbia after the International Court of Justice ruled that Kosovo’s declaration of independence in February 2008 did not break international law. These five members of the EU do not recognize Kosovo.
,,Spain, Greece and the others kept telling us they were waiting for the ICJ opinion. Now it is extremely clear. Not recognizing Kosovo now is unfair and will unjustly delay our European perspective,“ said Thaci.
OK, he made some point. But not to mention the ICJ ruling is non-biding the real point is the verdict.
It said the declaration of independence on 17 February 2008 did not violate general international law.
Correct me if I am wrong but the decision to oppose the independence of some country also does not violate general international law.
