Wikileaks and journalism

Any influence?

What kind of impact, if any, might have a Wikileaks project on journalism?

Nicholas Daniloff, Professor of Journalism, Northeastern University

The Wikileaks disclosures of classified documents about U.S. military actions have caused considerable concern in the Obama administration.  All U.S. administrations, especially the Obama administration, hate leaks! The result may be that the administration will look seriously as to whether journalists who publish such disclosures could be be charged with treason under the 1918 Espionage Act. In the past, administrations have not done so despite the annoyance and even dangerous threats such leaks pose. Thus, if the administration decides to act much more aggressively to discourage leaks, such actions might have a chilling effect on American journalism where military/war coverage is concerned.
